Hayes MusicWelcome to HAYES MUSIC - we are a family run business specialising in the Sales and Repairs of Brass & Woodwind Instruments. We opened our doors in November 2004 and have gladly seen an increase in custom each month. Being a specialist we can offer a more comprehensive service. Our brass repair workshop can offer anything from a replacement waterkey cork to a full overhaul, this could include a re-lacquer or plating if necessary. Likewise with the woodwind instruments anything from a spring adjustment to a major overhaul and re-pad.

We are continuously looking to expand our range of instruments as it is our suggestion that a selection of instruments should be tested before a purchase is made, this way you will have the confidence that your purchase was indeed suited to you. We stock both student and professional instruments and you are more than welcome to visit the shop to try what we have or to discuss further options. We also stock a varied selection of instrument accessories, sheet music and musical gifts.

Schike Trumpet handd over to Jan Zawada

Congratulations to Jan Zawada on the purchase of his new Schike Trumpet. The trumpet was made to celebrate Schikes' 50th Anniversary - the custom made gold instrument is made to the very highest standard and has been specially engraved for the occasion. Only 50 have been made worldwide, Jan is the proud owner of model number 38 and Schike confirm that it is the only one in the UK.

Alan Hardiman with his Rath R100 Trombone
Alan brought his Rath R10 jazz trombone to the shop for a complete overhaul. After removing all the dents etc the instrument was re-lacquered - but with a difference! The Nickel bell was satin finished on the outside and left highly polished on the inside, it looked great. A cool trombone for a cool dude!

Jan Zawada demonstrates the Buzz Extension and Resistance Piece (BERP) Buzz Extension and Resistance Piece
"The Buzz Extension and Resistance Piece (BERP) has been around since 1986, the most recent model of which is named the Ultimate BERP. Without doubt a very efficient simple piece of equipment designed to be within 2 centimetres of the instrument leadpipe, allowing you to buzz your mouthpiece while holding the instrument in the playing position. The connection is made between buzzing the mouthpiece and playing the instrument in a very real way. The benefits of buzzing increase and expand endurance and velocity, on live gigs I have noticed real benefits in embouchure stability and sound quality. The BERP is invaluable in the studio where being ready to record is of prime importance and I cannot recommend highly enough this simple piece of equipment."
