Alternatively, for instrument purchases you may wish to consider one of the following options :-

Option 1 - "Take it Away" on Interest-free credit

Take it away is an Arts Council England initiative designed to help more people get involved in learning and playing music. The scheme allows individuals to apply for a loan of up to £2,000 for the purchase of any kind of musical instrument, and pay it back in ten monthly instalments, completely interest free.

You can also include music stands, sheet music and other accessories to make sure you have everything you need to get playing.

You will need to pay a minimum 10% of the loan amount at the point of sale by debit or credit card. The balance is then paid back over nine months in equal instalments by direct debit.

Applicants must be between 18-25 years old, be UK residents, be working at least 16 hours per week, and will be subject to a credit check.Terms and conditions apply.

Option 2 - Pay no VAT using AIPS

The Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme (AIPS) enables pupils at Local Education Authority Schools to purchase instruments free from VAT.

How does the instrument scheme work?
1. The pupil selects the instrument of their choice.
2. Hayes Music provide you with a written order form detailing the instrument and price.
3. You place your order with the school and pay them the NON-VAT amount
4. The school places an order with Hayes Music for the required instrument
5. We dispatch the instrument and VAT-INCLUSIVE invoice to the school
6. The pupil collects their instrument from the school
7. The school pays Hayes Music and reclaims the VAT element in the usual way

A simple and quick process saving you 20% of the cost of an instrument on top of the competitive prices already offered by Hayes Music.

Option 3 - Reduce initial costs with an Instrument Rental

We have several instrument rental packages available for students & beginners.

Each Package includes :-
- a quality student instrument
- a hard backed rigid carry case
- lubricants (for brass instruments)
- a mouthpiece
- 3 reeds (for woodwind instruments)
- full workshop support & maintenance during the rental period
- option to purchase
